Who Makes Winnebago Motorhomes?

Winnebagos are made by Winnebago Industries Inc., a New York Stock Exchange listed company, based in Forest City, Iowa.

The company was founded by John K. Hanson in 1958, but it wasn't until 1966 that the very first Winnebago RVs or travel trailers rolled out of the factory. Over the years, the company has produced many different models, from the Minnie Winnie (a 12-foot long mini Winnebago model), to the Winnebago Brave, the Winnebago Warrior, and the Winnebago Chieftain.

Throughout the company's long history, they've consistently set the benchmark in the industry, and their vehicles are justifiably one of the best-known RV types on the market today.

The company may have scaled back in recent years, thanks to the economic crisis, but the fact that they're still alive and kicking, and still listed on the NYSE, is a testament to the hundreds of thousands of happy Winnebago RV enthusiasts that are out there.

Winnebago Motorhomes Today

The Winnebago has come a long way from the early days, but they're still some of the most popular RV types out there. In fact, both older and new models from the company are sought after by outdoor enthusiasts throughout the US, and the world.

Today, Winnebago Industries has several lines of RV types: the classic Winnebago line that offers Class A and C motorhomes, the Itasca motor home range, which offers nine luxurious models to the discerning RV buyer, Era Class B motor homes, Winnebago towables, and Sunnybrook towables.

The company has undergone some major reshuffling over the years, but they're still based in the same place, and they're still making some of the best RVs out there. They're specialists, and they're great at what they do.

Winnebago News in 2012

One of the ways that Winnebago motorhomes have stayed ahead of the proverbial pack over the years is by introducing new, innovative features every year, and 2012 is no different.

This year's models boast all sorts of goodies across the model range, from three position controls, to extendable sectional sofas, to solar blackout shades. Of course, Winnebagos with all the bells and whistles cost a little more than the entry level models, but for enthusiasts, or people who are trading their stationary homes for one on the road, they're what makes owning a Winnebago so special.

So if you are on the lookout for RV types that check all the boxes on your list of must haves, make sure you take a look at the full product range. There really are so many options that you're almost guaranteed to find exactly what you're looking for in one of the models!

Why Are Winnebagos So Popular?

One of the reasons Winnebago motorhomes are still so popular is that they've been around for so long, and they've built up a reputation as being reliable. In fact, the term Winnebago has virtually become synonymous with RVs! It's used as a generic term for other RV types too – not many brands can make the same claim.

Then there are the innovations and inventions that Winnebago Industries came up with to make their RV designs a reality. Remember that back in the 1950s, there weren't many ideas to borrow when it came to creating quality, comfortable recreational vehicles.

For instance, Winnebago was the company that came up with the 'Thermo Panel' – the side panels that created a cool, insulated interior in their early models. Many of the furnishings and fixtures that are now a standard in motor homes were developed by the Winnebago company, simply because they didn't exist when the company dreamed them up.

Winnebagos have also appeared in movies – from cult classics like Spaceballs to the 2010 documentary Winnebago Man.

What sets modern Winnebagos apart is the design and attention to detail. Modern Winnebago models feature cutting-edge RV technology, clever design and slick styling. They're still the whole package when it comes to RV types, and they're still a great buy.
